Amphan Relief

In the third week of May 2020, south Bengal witnessed the wrath of nature as a powerful cyclone struck the area, causing massive devastation and intensifying the miseries of people already crushed by the pandemic. Fields of crops were also razed. As a result, the cyclone-hit people were in dire need of food. Ramakrishna Math, Barasat, undertook extensive relief work to help people living in places like Hasnabad and Hingalganj, which are part of the Sundarban area, and in a few other places of North 24 Parganas. In this relief project, mainly food items were distributed among 14,840 people representing 3,738 families, from 29 May 2020 to 19 June 2020. Total expenses were Rs 1,534,497 (Rupees fifteen lakh thirty-four thousand four hundred ninety-seven).
